DonateStock
DonateStock publishes a stock, crypto and DAF-grant giving page for charities that never signed up, built from IRS data. All 40 randomly sampled tiny charities had one. When the charity has not registered, the page says the gift goes to the platform's own 501(c)(3), Donatestock Charitable, which sells the asset and pays the charity later, less a transaction fee the charity never agreed to.
The checklist
What we have checked on DonateStock, what we found, and what it rests on.
- 1. Off-domain Yes
Pages sit at donatestock.com/<charity-name>, with an EIN-keyed gift app at donatestock.com/donate/new/?ein=<EIN>.
Basis: Dated evidence bundle - 2. Auto-generated Yes
All 40 randomly sampled tiny 501(c)(3)s had a page, and the platform's own data marks each one auto-generated and not onboarded. The claim page says the charity "has already been automatically added to our database."
Basis: Dated evidence bundle - 3. No consent Yes
Each page says the charity "has not yet registered with us" and offers "Claim this nonprofit page". All 40 sampled pages belonged to charities that had not onboarded.
Basis: Dated evidence bundle - 4. Takes gifts Yes
Stock, crypto and DAF-grant flows reached the gift-details step with no login, for a tiny charity and for St. Jude. We stopped there and completed no gift.
Basis: Dated evidence bundle - 5. Intermediary Yes
For an unregistered charity, stock and crypto go to Donatestock Charitable, Inc. (EIN 87-1569770), which sells them and pays the charity "within 2 weeks", or by check if it cannot reach the charity in 30 days. DAF grants are paid by the donor's DAF sponsor.
Basis: Dated evidence bundle - 6. Search-indexed Yes
Charity pages carry no noindex and are listed in a public sitemap of 1,450,692 URLs. Google returned a DonateStock gift page for 29 of 300 random tiny charities searched by name, more often the EIN-keyed gift app than the charity page itself.

Request removal from DonateStock
Search DonateStock for your legal name and EIN first. If a page exists that you did not set up, send the request below. It takes about two minutes.
Where to send it
Use DonateStock’s Nonprofit Opt Out form, and paste the letter below into it.
Every charity page links to "Remove this nonprofit page", a short web form. It asks for a name, the organization and a work email.
What DonateStock asks for
- First and last name
- Organization name
- Work email
DonateStock does not say whether removal also turns off the EIN-keyed gift app, or how long it takes.
Checked 6 Oct 2026 against DonateStock’s own page
“Please complete the form below and we'll remove the nonprofit page.”
