B Charitable
Behind a wall Public DAF directory. The charity page is public, but a gift is a grant from a donor-advised fund and needs a donor login.
B Charitable, a donor-advised fund platform, publishes a public page for 1,328,077 charities copied from the IRS file, each with a "Make a grant request" button. The grant itself needs a free donor account. The charity has no way to claim or remove the page.
The checklist
What we have checked on B Charitable, what we found, and what it rests on.
- 1. Off-domain Yes
Pages sit at app.bcharitable.org/charities/<id>, with a public staging copy that Google also indexes.
Basis: Dated evidence bundle - 2. Auto-generated Yes
23 of 40 random tiny charities had a page, all bulk-imported on 2021-03-24 or 2022-04-25 with no owner. Charities ruled after 2022 are missing, consistent with a copy of the IRS file.
Basis: Dated evidence bundle - 3. No consent Unclear
Not established under the register's standard: B Charitable offers no claim, verification or removal route. The only contacts are a general support address and a copyright clause.
Basis: Dated evidence bundle - 4. Takes gifts Yes
Behind a login. Every page has "Make a grant request", which leads to a free self-serve sign-up for a donor-advised fund. We did not go past the login.
Basis: Dated evidence bundle - 5. Intermediary Yes
Gifts go into a donor-advised fund held by B Charitable, Inc., which "twice a month" honors grant requests and pays charities.
Basis: Dated evidence bundle - 6. Search-indexed Unclear
Partly. Pages carry no noindex and are linked from a public paginated index, but there is no sitemap. Google estimates about 109,000 indexed; 0 of 10 sampled tiny-charity pages were found.
Basis: Dated evidence bundle
